SS21 ADV CAMPAIGN

ATMOSPHERE: A series of portraits and incidentals of real people in and around Los Angeles. A traditional suburban house with a garden and a pool, the streets of downtown L.A., a surreal and bright rooftop. From sunrise to sunset, the cast swings into different environments and ideas of beauty. Sisters, friends, young and free-spirited souls explore and interact with the REDValentino Spring/Summer ’21 Collection. The narrative is blessed by the Californian sun - from morning to sunset the mood is all about escaping reality and never stop dreaming. PHOTOGRAPHER AND DIRECTOR: Rosie Marks (b. London, 1993) documents idle subjects as they focus on their day-to-day lives. Her subjects are engrossed in their worlds, her fascination with them usually left unrequited. Marks’ voyeuristic eye allows the absence of sentimentality, giving her the ability to capture the oddities amid human behavior. Much of Marks’ work takes place in scenarios where people are their most free - teenagers at prom, couples on holiday or groups in Miami during Art Basel - are caught with such matter-of-fact that humor and humility occur at once, asserting or debunking assumptions of their idiosyncratic existences. This year, following her first solo show at Soft Opening, Marks has published her first book, a selection of images from her thousands of digital photographs.
